Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept insurance?
No, at this time Sunny Spot Speech and Language Therapy is private-pay only and does not accept or work with any insurance plans. However, a superbill is available upon request. You can submit this superbill to your insurance company for possible reimbursement for out-of-network services. It is highly recommended that you check with your insurance company to determine what out-of-network speech services are included in your plan. To determine your plan's coverage, please first contact your insurance company with the following questions:

-
What is the coverage amount for out-of-network speech and language therapy?
-
Which diagnostic codes are accepted for coverage and reimbursement? (This will be based on the client's individual needs/ medical diagnosis).
-
What information do you need from my Speech-Language Pathologist?
-
What forms do I need to complete in order to file a claim?
Do you offer virtual speech therapy services?
Yes! Teletherapy is offered to clients in California. During our initial consultation/evaluation, it will be determined if this is an appropriate option for your child.
Is an evaluation required prior to services beginning?
Yes, an evaluation is necessary before starting services. Every new client must undergo a speech evaluation to establish a suitable treatment plan. If your child has received a speech evaluation from another provider within the last year, it can be utilized to determine the treatment plan. Similarly, if your child currently has an Individualized Education Program (IEP) indicating eligibility for speech and/or impairment, it can also be used instead of an evaluation to establish the treatment plan.
My child didn't qualify for school-based services, can you still work with them?
Yes! Schools are bound by California educational codes which mandate that only certain students meet the criteria for special education which includes speech therapy. We will gather caregiver input and evaluate your child to determine if private speech therapy is appropriate.
Why should I consider private speech therapy?
The main advantage of private speech therapy lies in the freedom to conduct a thorough evaluation and create a customized treatment plan that addresses the unique needs of your family. Unlike relying on insurance coverage or limited school services, private speech therapy ensures that we prioritize what is in the client’s best interest.
