We are seeking a lead Child Development Specialist (CDS) who is interested in growing with our Los Angeles based company, as we expand our in-home early intervention caregiver support and Regional Center offerings. This professional will help to supervise, train and lead our new CDS hires; in addition to assisting with our increasing Regional Center and early intervention therapy needs. In this role, you will work closely with families of children from birth through preschool age who have a range of developmental disabilities, to support their social, emotional, intellectual and physical development and growth. You will regularly collaborate with our Sunny Spot Speech Language Pathologist company founders, to help families we serve create a nurturing environment for their child that fosters learning through play.

Lead CDS Role:

  • Assist with the supervision and training of new CDS hires for Sunny Spot Speech and Language Therapy, Inc.​​

  • Provide in-person infant stimulation services and assessments for children ages 0-3 years in home, center, and community settings and support families in implementing intervention strategies during daily routines throughout Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley and surrounding areas, which may include: Woodland Hills, Encino, Sherman Oaks, Studio City, Tarzana, Valley Village, Universal City, Burbank, Glendale, Calabasas, Northridge, Granada Hills

  • Follow individualized serve plans developed through Regional Center to engage infants and toddlers in developmental activities focused on physical, cognitive, communication, social-emotional, and self-help skills

  • Document session notes and progress in compliance with program standards


Basic Requirements:

  • BA degree in Early Childhood Education, Social Work, Human Development or a related field with knowledge of child development from birth to 3 years

  • Minimum of two years' experience working in Early Education programs and with diverse groups and populations, in a lead or supervisory position (preferred)​​

  • Fingerprint background clearance (DOJ, FBI & Child Abuse Clearance Index), or appropriate exemption​

  • Class "C" driver's license, proof of automobile insurance and access to reliable transportation

  • Strong organizational skills and effective communication skills

  • Basic computer skills required – e.g. Word, Excel, Software applications​
